The project believes that kids are always better off staying with their own families. Many low income families cannot afford kindergarten, which means their children are sometimes sent out to beg instead. On top of that, primary schools will not accept children if they cannot already read or write, so the project helps give them the start they need.

That is why this project supports these kids through several day care locations. I spent four days a week helping at the kindergarten with English lessons, personal care and hygiene, and teaching the kids how to play together and have fun. I also wrote a marketing strategy for the foundation, which was something they really needed. My time with the kids was amazing and absolutely priceless.

To do something extra, I collected some money from my family and used it to put together little packages for all seventy children. Each one had a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and a small gift for the kids. They were so happy with them and I will never forget how grateful they were.

The local volunteers helped me so much, not only with the packages but also with settling in. We visited temples together, went out for lunch, cooked meals and I even stayed and ate at their homes. They are incredible people with hearts of gold. I definitely want to go back one day and we will absolutely stay in touch.
